This September, heroes are wanted to fight NF. Laurie is joining the NF Hero Challenge to support the Children's Tumour Foundation and families across Australia impacted by Neurofibromatosis (NF). NF is a genetic condition that causes tumours to grow on nerves throughout the body, including the brain and spine. It is progressive, unpredictable and there is no cure. But there is hope. A child is born with NF every 3 days in Australia. Laurie is proud to be supporting all Australians affected by this condition and raising much-needed funds to ensure those impacted can feel supported on their difficult journey ahead. Laurie herself has NF. She has a goal to raise $1000 to support the Children's Tumour Foundation's investment into research, specialist clinics and vital support services. Laurie has been on a mission to grow her hair so that she can cut it super short for the 2021 NF Hero Challenge. She will donate her hair afterwards. Conquering NF is more than just finding a cure. The NF journey from diagnosis through to treatment is challenging, and most of what families will experience is unknown. Many people come to the CTF at breaking point, seeking help to solve a specific problem or to feel connected to someone who understands their pain. Their sense of isolation and invisibility has only been compounded by COVID. Please help Laurie reach her goal and complete her challenge by making a tax-deductible donation. Laurie would like to thank everyone who has donated so far. She's been absolutely thrilled by your responses to her fundraising efforts so far. Tomorrow is the last day to sponsor Laurie and is also the day she will cut those long locks of hers to fulfil her promise. Due to lockdown Laurie won't be able to get a proper haircut for another two weeks so her mother is hoping she doesn't do too badly in her task of cutting Laurie's hair tomorrow ...
