May8 Day at Our Lady Of Lourdes School in Ingham
We were so lucky to have Liam’s school get involved by wearing a yellow shirt and giving a gold coin donation. With the donations from all the wonderful families at Our Lady Of Lourdes School in Ingham and from family and friends, we were able to raise $500 for the Children’s Tumour Foundation.
Liam is a wonderful and happy 11 year old. He was diagnosed with NF1 at the age of only 3 months old. He had a few cafe a late spots which our local GP,( who happens to be a great friend of mine), was monitoring. At four and a half months old, Liam’s father and I noticed a problem with his right arm. It was bowing and just didn’t look right. So off we went to get an X-ray and to our complete shock, the X-ray showed a pseudoarthrosis of the ulna and a major bowing of the radius.
Liam has made many trips to Westmead children’s hospital in Sydney from North Queensland for orthopaedic and neurogenetic appointments and surgery.
We are truly grateful for the doctors who have looked after Liam since he was a baby and to the Children’s Tumour Foundation for all the research and support they offer to those affected by Neurofibromatosis.
